Almost 23 weeks pregnant and so ready for this to year to end! It's been a crazy one with buying our first house, having it burn down, and most importantly becoming pregnant with our first child.  What a doozy! Now that I list it all out like that, I think I'm a bit overwhelmed!

Right now our biggest focus is finding a name for little Furtado. It's a nice last name, but most of the names I like don't sound too good with it.  It clings to names like Michael and James and Chris and William.  But it doesn't flow with some of the now popular names that hold unique flavor.  I think it will be one of those things where we just decide last minute what he looks like and go with it.

We're slowly getting everything else into place before he comes.  We probably won't be back in our Morgan Hill house before he's born so we're fixing up his nursery at our temporary home in San Jose. It's coming together nicely.  I first bought the crib bedding and decided to work the rest of the room off of those colors... browns, tans, whites, subtle green, and a hint of bright orange. It should look great once it's all done!  But we won't put too much effort into it because he'll be sleeping in his bassinet right next to Dusty... for the first few weeks at least.

His first stack one onesies.... too sweet! Thanks to TL for my favorite whale!
His library is growing all the time!
You can't tell from this picture, but the orange on the bumper and skirt are my fave!

This bassinet was my Pa's (my mom's dad) and all of my siblings and cousins used it as have all my nieces and nephews... now my children get to use it.  I changed it up a bit with my new sewing skills and created the new bedding and under-carriage.  I think it's pretty cute.
He's like his father... not even born and already has a fabulous show collection!

We're half way there! Oooooooh, livin' on a praya'...

It is true. We're half way through this pregnancy... woot woot!

As you can see, the picture to the left indicates the approximate size of the baby right now. Although, I'm beginning to think he's bigger and stronger than most. I was reading other women's comments online about feeling there baby move. Some haven't even felt movement at week 20 while others have felt tiny little bubbly movements. Are they kidding me?! I had the "gas bubbles" at week 14 and for the past 2 weeks I've been getting rather uncomfortable kicks in my abdomen. Dusty felt the baby move for the first time last week, and you can even see him dance (the baby, not Dusty... although it could be arranged). It's weird... my belly bulges out like it has a monstrous, irregular heartbeat. Then I poke him back and he kicks harder. I've learned to keep my hands to myself. Anyways, I just don't understand why these women are FINALLY feeling something. Do I just have extra sensitive nerves around my womb? Is he really a power house in there? Am I further along than I thought? Or maybe it's normal and these ladies are just slow. And to set the record straight, the miracle of life isn't always so cute and pretty. I mean, it's wonderful and all, the whole green house affect we have on the living human inside, but sometimes it gets down right uncomfortable and challenging. I mean can any man imagine having something constantly kicking him from the inside out? I think not. So while I think it's pretty special and definitely an experience worth having at least once (although I'm still thinking 6-12), I am very much looking forward to the day when he joins us in this world and daddy Dusty can share in all the blissful experiences first hand.
